The bones of the body are supported by muscles and ligaments that surround each joint. When a muscle or ligament is injured or irritated, it can cause joint problems, pain and poor function. A Chiropractor will aim to restore proper function in your joints in order to help heal the muscles, ligaments and other structures around them.

An adjustment is a gentle, specific force applied to a joint in a precise direction to correct a bio-mechanical problem. The doctor uses his/her hands to deliver a quick, accurate thrust in order to:

- Improve joint motion
- Decrease muscle spasm
- Provide pain relief

Sereena Uppal Chiropractor

Dr. Sereena Uppal attended Simon Fraser University where she studied Biology and Kinesiology. Upon graduation, she pursued her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree at Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) in Portland, OR.

She spent the first 7 years of her career providing care for patients at Peninsula Village Chiropractic in South Surrey. Since then, Dr. Uppal has been providing locum service for area chiropractors who have had to take a temporary leave of absence from their practice. As a result, she has had the opportunity to treat patients in many settings and with different treatment styles.

Along with core chiropractic curriculum, Sereena has continued to build her knowledge and treatment skills through the Active Release Treatment (ART) seminars, which focus on addressing muscle tension and scar tissue. She believes that a combination of soft tissue therapy, chiropractic manipulations, and rehabilitative exercises are most effective to maximize patient recovery. She addresses spinal complaints and numerous other conditions including: tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee and ankle injuries, sciatica, shoulder pain, shin splints, plantar fasciitis and headaches. She also utilizes cold laser therapy for those seeking an alternative type of therapy to expedite pain relief and healing. Currently, she is in the process of partnering with an orthotic company, to help meet the needs of patients who require customized shoe inserts to alleviate pain or help with postural misalignment.
